NYS Teachers Not Allowed to Be Armed in Classrooms
Teachers in New York will not be allowed to carry guns. That’s the result of a bill signed into law on Wednesday that only permits school resource officers, law enforcement officers or security guards to carry a firearm on school grounds. Advocates for teachers carrying weapons say they can respond faster than police to active shooter situations but critics say it increases the possibility for additional violence. It’s the third gun-related measure becoming law in New York this week.
