Global Citizen Festival 2014 Lineup: Jay Z, Carrie Underwood, No Doubt + More
Jay Z, Carrie Underwood and No Doubt are among the major acts that will be performing at this year's Global Citizen Festival in New York City. Other acts will include Tiesto, fun. and The Roots, according to Rolling Stone.
The Global Citizen Festival was started in 2012 by the Global Poverty Project, which aims to spread education and encourage advocacy in ending extreme poverty worldwide.
"Change only takes place when and where there is action," Jay Z said in a statement. "I'm joining the 2014 Global Citizen Festival because I believe through actions, whether it be by raising awareness, getting involved or educating ourselves, the goal to end extreme poverty by 2030 is possible."
In an interview with Rolling Stone, No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal said, "Global Citizen will be the first show No Doubt has played together in two years. It's a great way to get us back on stage. It was such an honor to be asked to play this particular concert. It's unacceptable that over 1 billion people live in extreme poverty, and it's got a pretty eclectic lineup, which reflects the event's true spirit of diversity."
The Global Citizen Festival this year will take place on Sept. 27 in Central Park in New York City. Admission is free to all, and if you can't be in New York City on that date, the concert will be broadcast online.
