I stumbled upon a fascinating  list the other day.  The Top 100 Italian names in America.  As I scanned the lists I thought I might have been reading an old Oneonta phone book!

We all know that a lot of Italian immigrants ended up in Oneonta a century and more ago.  Italians moved here, grew large families, worked on the D&H railroad and opened up barber shops, grocery stores, shoe repair shops and other businesses.

The list was generated by The US World Herald newspaper.  A team of researchers combed through old census data to come up with the names.  You can find the complete 100 names by clicking HERE.

Here are the Top 10 most common Italian names in the US...sound familiar, Oneonta?

(No D'Imperio, though!)
